Help the Hills continues to gain momentum as the Vestavia Hills Board of Education Drug Awareness Task Force the the Leadership Vestavia Hills’ Help the Hills group have joined forces to form the Help the Hills Coalition. The City is supporting its efforts by hosting a Town Hall Meeting in place of the regular Council work session this month. Mayor Ashley Curry will address the ongoing issue of drug and alcohol use and abuse in our community and has invited the Coalition to answer questions from residents and solicit feedback on this issue. The Help the Hills Town Hall Meeting will be held from 6-7:30 pm Monday, March 20 in the Council Chamber at City Hall.
The mission of the Help the Hills Coalition is to prevent/reduce substance use and abuse among youth and to educate those living within the city of Vestavia Hills through collaboration among schools, parents, and the community at large. Members of the coalition represent various sectors of the community including students, parents, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, faith organizations, government officials, local organizations and agencies associated with the issue, and school personnel such as teachers, counselors, and administrators.
