3rd Annual Helping Hands and Expanded E-Recycle, Shred, Hazardous Waste Event

Join in helping to make Vestavia Hills and our world a better place! This E-recycle event has grown into a true day of community over the past couple of years, and we are excited to celebrate the 3rd annual Helping Hands in the Hills Saturday, September 9, 2017. Special thanks to Advanced Technology Recycling, Stericycle (shredding) and Republic Services.

New! (Limited) Household Hazardous Waste—For Vestavia Hills residents ONLY. Proof of residency (photo ID) required. Paint, pesticides, batteries (including auto) and bulbs. Paint and pesticides MUST be in their original containers or they will NOT be accepted.

New! Drug Disposal—VHPD will be onsite to accept old/unused is medications. Needles will NOT be accepted.

Shred—Protect your identity by shredding unneeded personal documents.

E-Recycle—A broad range of electronics and small miscellaneous metals are accepted. Hard drive destruction available for a nominal fee ($5, off-site destruction); $15 fee to dispose monitors/tvs 21” or smaller, $30 for larger than 21”. Only non-PCB containing microwaves accepted. No medical devices which contain fluids.  Checks for fees may be made payable to ATR.

Computers, printers, copiers, monitors*, keyboards, speakers, mice, cables, PDAs, TVs*, VCRs, radios, stereo equipment, tape recorders, record players, telephones, PBX systems, answering machines, networking equipment, hubs, switches, routers, cables, video recorders, video monitors, security systems, CB radios, HAM radios, cell phones, pagers, BlackBerries/Palm units, Walkmans, cash registers, typewriters, adding machines, calculators, software, CDROM/floppy discs, manuals, cords, UPS and surge strips, scanners, digital cameras, MP3 players, rechargeable batteries, test equipment, computer parts, cables/wire/aluminum, rack/carts, lab and hospital equipment/devices (EXCLUDING any that contain fluids, oil, mercury, or radioactive material), microwaves – ONLY non-PCB containing.
