The City Council of the City of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, at its regular meeting of October 22, 2012, adopted and approved Ordinance Number 2418 – An Ordinance Regulating Soliciting, Peddling and Panhandling. On October 28, 2013, the City Council adopted and approved Ordinance Number 2474 to amend Ordinance Number 2418 with regard to the size and placement of “neighborhood” solicitation signs. Effective November 3, 2013, refer to this ordinance if information needed for the size/placement of a community sign. Solicitors

Before working in the City of Vestavia Hills, solicitors must apply for a City Solicitation Permit: Solicitation Permit Application. Note that a current Vestavia Hills business license, as well as a solicitation permit, must be obtained BEFORE attempting to solicit within the City.

All solicitors are required to wear placards which are visible at all times while soliciting within the City. The placards are color coded by month as follows. Depending on the day of issuance, colors might overlap into adjacent months; be sure to check the expiration date on the placard.

    • January – orange
    • February – green
    • March – yellow
    • April – purple
    • May – pink
    • June – blue
    • July – orange
    • August – green
    • September – yellow
    • October – purple
    • November – pink
    • December – blue

Excluded Subdivisions

The following subdivisions are located within the City and have posted “no soliciting” signage at their entrances. Solicitors shall avoid these subdivisions:

    • Altadena Forest Estates
    • Countrywood – off Rocky Ridge Road
    • Countrywood Highlands – off Dolly Ridge Road
    • Hickory Ridge – Hickory Ridge Circle
    • Liberty Park PUD – all subdivisions located within Liberty Park
    • Magnolia Ridge – off Dolly Ridge Road
    • Miller Hill – off Rocky Ridge Road
    • River Grand Subdivision – off Cahaba River Road
    • River Terrace Subdivision – off Old Overton Road
    • Tanglecreek Subdivision – off Rocky Ridge Road
    • Tyler Road Estates/Greenview Estates – Tyler Road to Benbow Drive at Hoover City Limits
