2023 Vestavia Hills Dogwood Festival
The Vestavia Hills Dogwood Festival is the longest running festival in the state! It is comprised of multiple events taking place city-wide, including Wing Ding, Heights Hangout, Dogwood Days, Party in the Park, Battle of the Bands and so much more … there is something for everyone! February Events
11: Pinkies Up Tea Party, Vestavia Hills Methodist Church, 9-11am
This Tea Party is much more than having tea! You will find all sorts of fun activities including face painting/make-up, manicures, crafts, dancing and a sing-a-long! 25: Dogwood Dink Pickleball Tournament, Vestavia Hills Civic Center, 8am-4pm
The Dogwood Dink brings pickleball enthusiasts together for a day of fun and enthusiastic game play! Participants are guaranteed a minimum of 3 games. Early bird registration for Vestavia Hills residents will be available beginning January 9 until February 1; registration will then open to the public and will close Tuesday, February 14. Registration will be online at https://vhrecreation.activityreg.com/selectactivity_t2.wcs. Don’t have a partner? Don’t worry … We will match you with a suitable partner on the day of the event! 3: SpringFest & Concert, Wald Park, 6-9:30pm
Join Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation as we celebrate the beginning of spring with music, food trucks, face painting, bounce houses, vendors and more! Then we’ll end the night with an outdoor ALL AGES concert by Jenni’s Mixtape!
4: VHHS Superhero Fun Run, VHHS, 8am
Fun, music and games, along with some of your favorite Superheroes running, walking or even skipping alongside the kids around Buddy Anderson Field at VHHS, make this a memorable occasion for all. Meet at VHHS football stadium at 8am for an 8:30am start! 4: VHHS Rebel 5K Color Run, VHHS, 9:30am
The annual Rebel Run winds through the neighborhoods near VHHS with color stations along the route. Meet at the VHHS front parking lot at 9:30am for a 10am start! 4: Dog Days at SHAC, Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex, 10am-2pm
Don’t miss Dog Days at SHAC, especially the Flea Market! Bring your fur baby for this day of paw-someness and experience everything Liberty Park has to offer – boutique shopping, spas, multiple restaurants and more!
9: Dogwood Festival Fashion Show, Civic Center, 4-6pm
Join us for an evening of all-things-fashion, just in time for Easter, Spring Break, bridal events and baby showers! Representatives will be onsite from a variety of businesses, including catering, jewelry, tanning, salons, floral, cakes, shoes, dry cleaning, bridal registry, stationery, event rentals and more! 11: Dogwood Days: Cahaba Heights, The Heights Village, 10am-8pm
Explore everything Cahaba Heights has to offer – boutique shopping, spas, multiple restaurants and more! Register at any participating business to win a huge basket filled with local treats.
16: Live After 5, Vestavia City Center, 5pm
Get ready to party with live music, local vendors and more at the Vestavia City Center! This is a free, family-friendly event for all ages.
18: VHHS RISE Kids Day, VHHS, 9-11am
Featuring Touch-a-Truck and Character Party, this annual event is for the young or young at heart – 80 characters including all your favorite Disney characters and many Superhero friends. 24: Historical Society Self-Guided Tour BEGINS
Enjoy a self-guided “drive-by” tour of local historical sights. Be sure to look for yard signs and historical markers at each location. Signs and markers will be in place through April 30. Pick up your FREE guidebook at Vestavia Hills City Hall or CLICK HERE for the full list of historical sites.

April Events
4: Dogwood Luncheon, Vestavia Country Club, 10:30am
Don’t miss this signature spring event! The silent auction will kick off at 10:30am and the luncheon will begin at 11:30am. Heidi Elnora, an Alabama-based female entrepreneur, will serve as this year’s guest speaker. Heidi is a wedding dress designer, inspirational speaker, television personality and industry leader. A graduate of The Savannah College of Art and Design, Heidi burst onto the scene as a contestant on the second season of Project Runway and later starred in her own reality show Bride By Design on TLC. In 2006, Heidi launched her namesake designer wedding dress label, which has sold in 30+ stores nationally and internationally, including all Nordstrom wedding suites, and Bergdorf Goodman in the heart of New York City. Tickets are $35 each and must be purchased in advance. Tickets may be purchased via Venmo (@vh-dogwood or scan the QR code at right) or by check. 7: Easter Eggstravaganza, Wald Park, 11am
Visit the baby animal petting zoo, take a picture with the Easter Bunny, make a craft and find a prize egg! This non-competitive, relaxed egg hunt is for children ages 6 and under.
7: Mastering Happy Hour, Vestavia City Center, 2-6:30pm
We will have a TV screen from Backyard Jumbotron playing The Masters Tournament from 2-6:30pm! FREE and family-friendly.
8: Battle of the Bands, Rocky Ridge Business District, 5-9pm
Rocky Ridge Entertainment district will host the 4th annual Battle of the Bands competition at Rocky Ridge Plaza. This live music competition features bands from area middle schools and high schools competing for a total of $2,000 in prize money. Bands are judged on criteria including musicianship, showmanship and creativity. Enjoy food and beverages from nearby restaurants and browse retails shops, all within walking distance. Bands perform 3-4 song sets and winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event. First place and second place prizes are $750 and $250, respectively.

15: Vestavia Hills Garden Club Yard Sale, 7am-1pm
Don’t miss out on shopping the treasures that have been donated by members of the Garden Club! Proceeds benefit the Sybil Temple Foundation and will used for continued maintenance of the Temple. Rain date: April 22, 2023
15: VHHS RISE Day, VHHS, 4-10pm
Admission is FREE to this family-friendly, community-wide festival celebrating the culmination of the VHHS RISE fundraising activities. This inspirational event features food, games, live music by student bands and a luminary ceremony honoring those who have battled against cancer.
17: Historical Society Presentation: Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills City Hall, 2pm
Join the Vestavia Hills Historical Society for highlights of the history and current community outreach of the oldest established church in the city limits of Vestavia Hills, Shades Mountain Baptist Church, established in 1911. The program will include musical selections by the SMBC Jubilee Singers, a history of the church and a review of current community involvement initiatives.
18: Dogwood Prayer Breakfast, Vestavia Country Club, 7-9am

21: Concert Series: The Mountain Grass Unit with opening act, Will Stewart, Wald Park Grand Lawn, 7pm
Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy great music for the whole family! Will Stewart will open for The Mountain Grass Unit and concessions will be available. All ages are welcome to enjoy this FREE, family-friendly outdoor concert sponsored by the Vestavia Hills Library in the Forest!
22: Wing Ding, Vestavia Hills City Hall, 4-7pm
Join Leadership Vestavia Hills for a day of fun competition where we put our local chefs to the test. Visitors will enjoy great chicken wings, live music and a children’s area full of games and activities.
