Many of our residents have found that Vestavia Hills is a wonderful place to call home, both when they were just getting started and now as they sail into their golden years. Vestavia Hills offers many programs and services for enhanced senior living:
Meals
The City offers two weekday lunch and activity programs, one located at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center on Highway 31 and the other at New Merkel House in Cahaba Heights. Lunches are provided in partnership with the United Way Area Agency on Aging (UWAAA). For more information, please call or email program coordinator Sandi Wilson at 205.978.0163 or swilson@vhal.org.
For seniors in need of assistance with hot meals at home, the Meals On Wheels program is available through the UWAAA. For more information, call 205.592.0413.
Recreation for Seniors
In addition to the facilities, classes and lunch/activities programs available through Vestavia Hills Parks & Recreation, there are several well-established groups offering the opportunity for seniors to connect socially. The Vestavia Hills Senior Citizens Association meets monthly at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center for lunch and entertainment.
