Hazardous Waste Collection Day

Hazardous Waste Collection Day is typically offered annually on the 2nd Saturday in May from 8am to noon in the parking lot of Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex (SHAC).

This event is open only to Vestavia Hills residents, and proof of residency is required. Materials from contractors, businesses or non-residents will not be accepted. While the City covers the majority of disposal costs, certain items may require an additional disposal fee. Any applicable fees and a list of accepted materials will be published in advance of the event.

Household hazardous waste items to be accepted include: paint* (household amounts only); batteries (household and automotive); light bulbs; and pesticides* (household amounts only). *Paint and pesticides MUST be in their original containers or they will NOT be accepted.

Not accepted: electronics of any kind; appliances; wooden console TVs; gas; gas cans; paint/pesticides NOT in their original container

NOTE: Vestavia Hills police officers will NOT be on-site to collect unneeded or expired medications for disposal at this event. Medication collection will be available at the September collection event.
