2024 Vestavia Hills Dogwood Festival

The Vestavia Hills Dogwood Festival is the longest running festival in the state – celebrating 60 years in 2024! It is comprised of multiple events taking place city-wide, including Wing Ding, Heights Hangout, Dogwood Days, Concerts in the Park, Battle of the Bands and so much more … there is something for everyone! March Events

2: VHHS Superhero Fun Run, VHHS, 8am
Fun, music and games, along with some of your favorite Superheroes running, walking or even skipping alongside the kids around Buddy Anderson Field at VHHS, make this a memorable occasion for all. Meet at VHHS football stadium at 8am for an 8:30am start! Ages 1st-5th grade; $20 per participant (includes T-shirt). 2: VHHS Rebel 5K Color Run, VHHS, 9:30am
The annual Rebel Run winds through the neighborhoods near VHHS with color stations along the route. Meet at the VHHS front parking lot at 9:30am for a 10am start! Ages 6th grade-adult; $20 per participant (includes T-shirt). 2: Dog Days at SHAC, Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex, 10am-2pm
Don’t miss Dog Days at SHAC, especially the Flea Market! Bring your fur baby for this day of paw-someness and experience everything Liberty Park has to offer – boutique shopping, spas, multiple restaurants and more!

15: Dogwood Sip & Stroke, Library in the Forest, 7pm
Enjoy wine and art while creating a gorgeous dogwood painting with help from a local artist. Ages 21+ and RSVP required – terri.leslie@vestavialibrary.org. Hosted by Vestavia Hills Arts Council and Library in the Forest. 

16: Mudtown Makers Market, Heights Village, 10am-1pm
The local art scene is amazing! Join the Vestavia Hills Arts Council at the Hunt the Heights event to celebrate diverse creativity and experience the beauty of works created by local artisans. Admission is FREE! Hosted by Vestavia Hills Arts Council, Cahaba Local and Heights Village.

16: Hunt the Heights, Cahaba Heights Business District, 10am-5pm
Easter eggs – filled with coupons, candy and goodies – will be hidden in participating Cahaba Heights businesses! Every egg has a prize inside!! For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/CahabaHeightsLocal.

21: Dogwood Luncheon, Vestavia Country Club, 10am
Don’t miss this signature spring event! Doors open at 10am for the silent auction and the program and luncheon will begin at 11am. This year’s speaker will be Sophie Hudson. Ms. Hudson is a Birmingham native, author and co-host of “The Big Book Cast.” ​Tickets are $40 each and must be purchased in advance. Tickets may be purchased via Venmo (@vh-dogwood) or by check. If using Venmo, include your full name in the notes section. Also include the names of the attendees to be seated at your table, if purchasing multiple tickets. 29: Spring Yard Judging Begins!
Members of the Vestavia Hills Beautification Board will tour Vestavia Hills in search of the most beautiful yards. Winners will be recognized upon completion of the judging period on April 7.

29: Easter Eggstravaganza, Wald Park, 11am
Visit the baby animal petting zoo, take a picture with the Easter Bunny, make a craft and find a prize egg! This non-competitive, relaxed egg hunt is for children ages 6 and under.

 

April Events

6: Dogwood Dink Pickleball Tournament, Vestavia Hills Civic Center, 8am
The Dogwood Dink brings pickleball enthusiasts together for a day of fun and enthusiastic game play! Don’t have a partner? Don’t worry … We will match you with a suitable partner on the day of the event! Registration is open NOW and the cost is just $35 per player. 6: Dogwood Days: Cahaba Heights, 10am-8pm
Explore everything Cahaba Heights has to offer – boutique shopping, spas, multiple restaurants and more! Register at any participating business to win an amazing prize with a local theme.

6: Battle of the Bands, Rocky Ridge Plaza, 5-9pm
Rocky Ridge Entertainment district will host the 5th annual Battle of the Bands competition at Rocky Ridge Plaza. This live music competition features bands from area middle schools and high schools competing for a total of $2,000 in prize money. Bands are judged on criteria including musicianship, showmanship and creativity. Enjoy food and beverages from nearby restaurants and browse retails shops, all within walking distance. Bands perform 3-4 song sets and winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event. First place and second place prizes are $750 and $250, respectively. Interested in sponsoring the event? 12: Spring Fling Family Day, Wald Park, 6-7:30pm
Bring a chair or blanket and join Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation to celebrate the arrival of spring with live music, food trucks, face painting, bounce houses, vendors (with swag) and more! Wrap-up the day of fun with an all-ages outdoor concert. Hope to see you at this FREE family fun event!

13: VHHS RISE Day, VHHS, 4-10pm
Admission is FREE to this family-friendly, community-wide festival celebrating the culmination of the VHHS RISE fundraising activities. This inspirational event features food, games, live music by student bands and a luminary ceremony honoring those who have battled against cancer.

15: Historical Society Presentation: Vestavia Hills Methodist Church, Vestavia Hills City Hall, 2pm
Rev. Dr. Bill Brunson, Senior Pastor of Vestavia Hills Methodist Church, will provide a summary of the church’s 70+ year history, along with a description of what is happening in the church today. Musical entertainment will be provided by Jim Frazier, Pastor of Boomers & Beyond and Care & Support.

16: Dogwood Prayer Breakfast, Vestavia Country Club, 7-9am

21: Concert: Miles College Golden Voices Choir, Vestavia Hills Civic Center, 3pm
The Library in the Forest invites all to this FREE concert! Under the direction of Ms. Valerie Harris, the Miles College Golden Voices is a premier choir comprised of men and women from across the nation. The choir has performed nationwide and exudes the message of culture, class and civility through many genres of music.

27: Wing Ding, Vestavia Hills City Hall Lawn, 4-7pm
Join Leadership Vestavia Hills for a day of fun competition where we put our local chefs to the test. Visitors will enjoy great chicken wings, live music and a children’s area full of games and activities.
