Planning & Zoning

The City of Vestavia Hills is served by a City Planner under the oversight of the City Clerk/Zoning Official. The department works closely with Administration to strategically achieve the highest and best use of public and private parcels within the City of Vestavia Hills. This is accomplished both through proactive planning as well as responsiveness to ideas presented.

This page is designed to answer questions concerning any requests before the Vestavia Hills Planning and Zoning Commission, the Vestavia Hills Board of Zoning Adjustment, the Vestavia Hills Design Review Board. For questions regarding Annexation, please refer to the City Clerk page.

Requests for Zoning Certifications:  A Request for Zoning Certification may only be filled if there is a City Ordinance that zoned the property.  If you wish to request a zoning certification, the cost is $35.  Please file for a “public records request” in order to obtain a zoning certification.  To file an public records request, CLICK HERE.
