How Do I Qualify To Run For Office?

Qualfication for municipal office begins at 8 AM, Tuesday, June 10, 2025 and the last day/time to qualify is 5 PM, Tuesday, June 24, 2025.  To qualify, bring the following document with you to avoid any delays or problems with your qualification.  These are necessary:

  • A fully completed Statement of Candidacy with a notarized signature of the candidate.  If there is no notary, do not sign the document until you come to City Hall so that it may be signed in front of a notary.
  • Payment of a $50.00 qualification fee pursuant to Ordinance 1826 (copy below) or a completed Indigent Affidavit (please note, campaign funds and personal funds should not be co-mingled so ensure that this payment is from your campaign account or cash so you can get a receipt to use for your campaign accounting purposes.)
  • Confirmation number from submittal of your Statement of Economic interest.  This document will have to be screened through the Ethics Commission so, to avoid any delays, please bring your conformation number with you when you qualify.  Failure to complete the SEI in the alloted time AND be cleared by the Ethics Commission can result in the removal of your name from the ballot.  This is important!  The City has no discretion in this requirement.
