Accident Reports:
- Cost: $5 per copy

Incident/Offense Reports:
- Cost: $5 per copy
- Available for release to the listed victim or reporting person only; a subpoena is required for the release of an Incident Report to anyone other than the victim or reporting person
Fingerprinting Services:
- Cost: $15 per card
- Available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 3pm*
- No appointment necessary
- A valid government-issued photo ID is required; an expired ID will not be accepted
- Fingerprints related to immigration services must be taken by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Office. Click HERE for more information
Release of Impounded Vehicles:
- Impounded vehicles are only released Monday through Friday between 8:00am-4:30pm
(Excluding national, state and local holidays) - For towing and storage fees inquiries, contact Vestavia Tire Express (Sunoco) at 205.823.1213. For other vehicle release questions, contact the VHPD Records Office at 205.978.0124.
For Registered Vehicle Owners:
The registered owner must present the following at VHPD for vehicle release:

- Valid driver’s license
- Original vehicle title OR current vehicle tag receipt in the registered owner’s name
If the registered owner does not have a valid driver’s license, they must provide:

- Photo ID that clearly establishes their identity as the registered owner
- Original vehicle title OR current vehicle tag receipt in the registered owner’s name
- A third party with a valid driver’s license
For Non-Registered Vehicle Owners:
A non-registered owner must provide the following:

- A notarized letter from registered owner giving permission for the non-owner to retrieve the impounded vehicle. The letter must include:
- The non-owner’s name (as it appears on their driver’s license)
- Make, model and VIN of the impounded vehicle
- Notarized signature of the owner (with a clearly visible notary seal)
- Copy of registered owner’s driver’s license
- Current tag receipt OR vehicle title
- A valid driver’s license for the person picking up the vehicle
